Rapper Ja Rule is set to go on trial this summer to finally face a gun charge dating back to 2007.
According to The Associated Press, the rapper born Jeffrey Atkins is scheduled to go to trial on August 19 for criminal possession of a weapon stemming from his arrest in July 2007.
The rapper was arrested in 2007 after police pulled over his luxury Mercedes-Benz Maybach for speeding. After the stop, cops said they found a loaded .40-caliber Taurus handgun, which had the serial numbers scratched off.
Ja was arrested along with two other men and charged with criminal possession of a firearm, to which Ja has pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Ja’s arrest happened the same night Lil Wayne caught his gun possession charge that he’s currently serving a one year sentence for.
