R.I.P Pimp C December 29th, 1973 – December 4th, 2007.

Pimp C (born Chad Butler) is being remembered today all over the country by hip hop, friends, and family. December 4th, 2007 Pimp C was called home, leaving a forever lasting impression on hip hop. One half of UGK(Underground Kingz) along with Bun B, UGK put music from Texas on the map! Pimp C began his journey with UGK in 1987 and from there they built an empire. Releasing their first UGK album through Jive Records titled Too Hard To Swallow in 1992, Pimp C and Bun B were on their way to producing Billboard chart hits. Their second album, Super Tight was dropped two years following their first album. Super Tight made the Billboard 200 at #95 followed by their third album, Ridin Dirty that peaked at #15.
Building an undeniable buzz UGK collaborated with Jay-Z in the year 2000 on his huge hit “Big Pimpin” along with an appearance on Three 6 Mafia’s hit “Sippin on Some Syrup”. These two hits set new grounds for UGK. They began to recieve a lot more recognition that they deserved and their reputation began to build. Between their fourth album in 2001 titled Ridin Dirty and a minor set back of Pimp C being incarcerated in 2002, a major come back was just around the corner!
In the mean time Jive Records released Best of UGK along with a Chopped&Screwed remix album. Released from prison in 2005 Pimp C went on to pursue his solo career. In 2006 Pimp C released his album titled Pimpalation. Their self titled album Underground Kingz later debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 in August on 2007. This double album included featured from : Rick Ross, Talib Kweli, and OutKast to name a few.
Pimp C accomplished great things in his life and he took the music of the south and made it world wide. Bun B along with countless others in the hip hop community are still holding Pimp C down ’til this day! I want everyone to take the time out today to remember a man of hip hop and continue to give him life through music!!!
