After generating a few month’s worth of buzz around her debut album ‘Pink Friday’, Nicki Minaj has been successful in delivering a chart topper to her nation of Barbies. ‘Pink Friday’ went gold in mid-December with over 500,000 units sold, and at the top of the new year, the album has been certified platinum by the RIAA.
Nicki Minaj is still a bit away from actual 1 million copies sold, but since the RIAA awards certification for units shipped, Pink Friday is now officially certified platinum in just 6 weeks at retail. But as far as units sold, Pink Friday moved back into the Top 5 (Billboard’s 200) by climbing up four positions to No. 4 with 60,900. With six weeks in the books, her debut album has pushed out 851,800 copies. Congrats Nicki!
