Many of us see Dr. King as just a peaceful man who never felt like punching somebody in the face during the Civil Rights Movement. I just found a video where he sounds more like Malcom X and even a little Marcus Garvey in this speech.
“Yes I’m Black, I’m proud of it, I’m black and beautiful!” Dr.Martin Luther King
Why doesn’t anyone ever quote these words by Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.? This speech sounds more like Malcom wrote it for him or even the Honorable Elijah Muhummad. Dr King was a black man. A man. He had feelings and emotions just like any other man. He had complexities and contradictions like all our great heroes. He had wants and desires like any other black man growing up in that dark part of American history. Well now he’s a martyr of peace for all African Americans and a symbol of our struggle to the world and all people of color. But I really believe there were times that Martin wanted to be more like Malcom but he overstood that we needed diplomacy to win against a power that was embedded in our very core of values of this country. Those core values had to be changed. He changed it with his life. We salute you, Dr King.

I like the fact that you used the art “Martin Luther King Jr Meets Malcolm X” by artist Melvin Hale (ArtistLA). He really captures the essence of the moment. Keep up the good work, Shadi…
