HHW talks exclusively with Keyshia Cole whose back on the scene with her new family and her new album, Calling All Hearts.

Keyshia Cole has become a household name and a staple in the music industry. She’s sold millions of records, has had a hit reality show of her own, as well as facilitated a hit show for her mother and sister, in addition to a plethora of other opportunities. Most recently, Keyshia achieved her own dream of starting a family, celebrating the birth of her son Daniel Hiram Gibson Jr., with Cleveland Cavaliers player Daniel Gibson. Check out a few excerpts from our sit-down as she explains how she’s taking everything in stride:

On the hardest part of her success

“I guess the hardest part would be coming so far and accomplishing so much, and facing so much adversity, and when we finally get happy, the fans are like, ‘What the hell?!’ I just can’t understand that. I haven’t figured out how to deal with that yet because I’m a real artist, I come from the ‘hood, I’ve faced and overcome so much, and I think that it’s great, I think it’s wonderful, and I’d want anybody to accomplish their goals and their dreams in life and also be happy within themselves.”

On whether fame and notoriety made her family better or worse

“I can’t speak for Nefeteria, but I can definitely say for my mother, she’s doing a lot better. Even her worst on TV is better than she did when she was on the streets, so I would have to say absolutely it did her great, and I’m very proud of her.”
