“I believe it’s always been such a male-dominated field, and there’s so much room for female artists,” Pepa said. “We’re still here 30 years later, and we’re headlining a tour … no one can take that away from
us.”
The tour’s lineup is like the ’27 Yankees of rap with superstars Doug E. Fresh, Big Daddy Kane, Kool Moe Dee and Kurtis Blow also taking the stage.
As for the lack of female artists in today’s hip-hop world, Denton’s
at a loss for words.
“I don’t know why,” Denton said.
She has a better idea about the popularity of Salt-N-Pepa.
“You can bring kids to our show … it’s so beautiful, it’s uplifting and positive,” Denton said. “It’s a good, clean show.”

Grammy Award-winning rap act Salt-N-Pepa are embarking on a 20-city Legends of Hip-Hop Tour to commemorate the 25th anniversary of their first album release, 1986′s ‘Hot, Cool, & Vicious.’The tour will feature such additional hip-hop heavyweights as MC Lyte, Doug E. Fresh, Kool Moe Dee, Slick Rick, Naughty by Nature, Biz Markie, Rob Base, Whodini, and Kurtis Blow.
This year’s ‘Legends of Hip-Hop Tour’ aims to bring together hip-hop lovers to celebrate this milestone for Salt-N-Pepa and enjoy a night of non-stop music and nostalgia.
