Christopher Wallace a.k.a. The Notorious B.I.G. was more than just a rapper, he is considered by many to be one of the greatest MC’s to ever pick up a mic or spit a 16. On March 9, 1997, The Notorious B.I.G was shot and killed in a drive-by shooting in Los Angeles. 14 years later, we’re still celebrating the life of The Notorious B.I.G.
The Black Frank White attended an after party hosted by Vibe magazine, after the 11 annual Soul Train Music Awards. Biggie and his entourage left the Petersen Automotive Museum in two GMC Suburban trucks to go back to their hotel. Biggie was in the front passenger of the first GMC with D-Roc, Lil Cease and G-Money. An little after midnight Biggie truck stopped at a red light. A black Chevrolet Impala pulled alongside Biggie’s truck, rolled down his window and fired bullets at Biggie’s GMC . Four of the bullets hit Biggie in the chest and he was pronounced dead around 1:15 am at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

Most MC’s who came out in the 90′s and beyond owe respect to the “Player President.” He lived Notorious and was the Black Frank White. How could we ever forget “Big Poppa” with classics like “Juicy” and “Who Shot Ya”? Not only was he a Black male that was stereotyped, he was also misunderstood, but no matter what, he always rep his Brooklyn hood.
