Apparently, Bill Cosby isn’t quite ready to bury the hatchet with Russell Simmons. Over the last few years, the legendary comedian and human-rights activist and Simmons have been at odds because of their differing perspectives on the hip-hop generation (to put it briefly, Simmons thinks Cosby‘s opinion of us, that we’re a little on the trifling side, is somewhat judgmental). More after the Jidump!!!
Nevertheless, the hip-hop mogul acknowledges how hard Cosby has worked to make things better for our people, and was hoping he could make peace with him last week at the annual Jackie Robinson foundation event (Cosby served as the event’s emcee, while Simmons was there to present Sean “Diddy” Combs with the “Renaissance Man Of The Decade” award). Unfortunately, things didn’t work out exactly how Simmons had hoped when he ran into Cosby backstage. According to a post penned by Simmons for his GlobalGrind website:
“…I wanted to find him to apologize, to tell him I was sorry about my statements and to tell him that I loved him. Suddenly I turned and he was behind the curtain and I said ‘I love you’ and he responded on some real hip-hop, ‘Get the f*ck out my face!’”
Wowwwww!!! He didn’t say “get out of my face,” he said, ”get the F*CK out of my face!” I never learned that on “Picture Pages!!!” Anyway, it ain’t over…check out what Simmons said the Cos did next:
“His next move was straight up old school pre b-boy hood shit. He walked by me and bumped me with his shoulder as I walked off stage after presenting my award to Sean, just like the cool ass character in Let’s Do It Again. I then loved him even more. He’s from the same hood I’m from, just got a lucky break like me, cause I am those suffering men. And after that elbow I knew he was too.”
