Lil’ Eddie
Brooklyn, NY

“Pretty Brown Eyes” – Amerie & Trey Songz
“She Is” – Carl Thomas

What artists have you written for?
I been writin’ now for like, 11 years. I wrote “She Is” for Carl Thomas; that was back in the day. I wrote for Gorilla Black featuring Mario Winans; 112, Jojo, Kylie Minow, Paula Abdul… Currently I’ve been doin’ a lotta work with young, new artists like Cody Simpson. I have a single right now that’s #1 on Disney radio, and then Big Time Rush, I have a record on them. I have a record on Jesse K’s album. I just did a record for Charlie Wilson’s last album, and two more for El DeBarge’s last release – the Christmas records on that album. So it’s been pretty dope, and I been workin’ on my own stuff. I have a song right now on the top 10 iTunes R&B charts in Japan. It’s a duet with me and Amerie called “Guardian Angel.” On Amerie’s last album I wrote “Pretty Brown Eyes,” featuring Trey Songz. I did another record on the album.

What would you say have been your most notable records so far?

It’s really crazy because it depends on the country sometimes. But I would say right now the Cody Simpson record is really popular when it comes to the youth. It depends on the flavor. If you into Pop stuff then you may know the Paula Abdul record. If you’re into R&B you may know the Carl Thomas record, or the Amerie and Trey Songz. So it varies.

How did you get started in music?
It’s crazy! When I was about 15 or 16, somebody gave my demo to a guy named Eddie Morales, a famous choreographer who worked with Janet, Justin Timberlake, and everybody! He introduced me to a lotta people that eventually led me to Puffy and Mario Winans, and from there it kinda just took off. I worked with Bad Boy. I was on Carl Thomas, and 112, and all the projects they were workin’ on at the time. It was crazy. Everything moved fast. When I was 18 I signed a deal with Mario Winans, and I was in the studio with Usher workin’ on “Confessions” for a whole week.

What are you working on now?

I did about six songs on Jojo’s new album. I just did Cody Simpson’s album. We did a lot of really special stuff that I’m excited about. Jesse J, she has a single with B.o.B right now that’s blowin’ up in the UK; she’s major and I think she’s about to change the game. I wrote on her album, and I just did K’Naan, who had the “Waving Flag” record. Selena Gomez is cuttin’ my record; Jordan Sparks is on the list – so many different projects – and then my album, which I’ve been workin’ on in Japan. I have a record that’s about to be serviced to radio real soon – I’m excited! There’s so much music that people can look forward to. I’m in the studio just workin’ everyday, tryina give people what they want.
