HHW catches up with the 3-headed monster whose currently in the lab working on a project of its own.

Who is Travis Porter, and how long have you been working on your debut album?
Travis Porter is Strap, Quez and Ali. We’re three 20-year-olds from Decatur, GA. Honestly, we’ve had album material for eight months now, but we’ve only been working on it for a month. It’s a process we want to take our time with because we have to give our fans the best product.

Where’s your favorite place to record, and why?
Atlanta – Porter House Music studios. It’s a comfortable environment and that’s where we get in our mode.

Is there a type of vibe that you like to create while working in the studio?
It’s always natural. Not ever trying too hard.

When do you prefer to have your recording sessions? Is the time of day/night relevant to your creativity?
Anytime! Whenever there are ideas there are sessions.

What are a few must haves at your sessions?
Coke Soda, raspberry lemonade, Hot Cheetos, selections of beats, video games and a pool table.

How did you come up with the album title?
We don’t have a title. Trust us, y’all will know when we have a title.

How do you know or determine that you have had a successful session?
We each get that feeling when we’re done. When it’s running back, you hear the crowd… the fans – it’s “that record.”

Who are some of the producers you worked with on the album?
FKI, KB, Sounds and K Mac.

If there’s one thing you want people to know about Travis Porter, what is it?
We didn’t get here overnight. It took a lotta hard work, sacrifice, and all of our passion to sustain us up to this point. We wouldn’t be here without our fans. Oh, yea… we love hot fries.

Let’s talk about your first single “Make it Rain,” and the not so typical video concept. How did that come about?
We were stepping outside the box and decided to make it fun, creative and family-oriented.
