HHW gives you another exclusive Behind The Beats featuring The Renegadez.

“Welcome To My Hood” – DJ Khaled, ft. Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, T-Pain & Plies
“Welcome To The Club” – Brisco, ft. Gucci Mane
HHW: What’re y’all workin’ on right now?
MAV: I mean, everybody right now! Of course you know, Ross got two albums comin’ out – workin’ on those; workin’ on Birdman – just everything, and everything. When you hear that hot summer, we tryina get on all those albums!
Reezy: We definitely workin’ on Khaled’s album as well.
How would you describe The Renegades’ sound?
Mav: I would describe our sound as just straight energy. We like to just have a huge big sound all the time. Our sound always gotta be hittin’ hard, always gotta have a lotta bass, a lotta 808’s… like, our sound is just huge!
How did y’all first get into music?
REEZY: Well, me Reezy, I’m a trained musician. I been doing music since I was 6 years old, starting with the piano, all the way up to almost every instrument, so I’ve always been in music. I just didn’t wanna take the classical side. I like producin’, makin’ up my own music, composin’… stuff like that.
MAV: Basically, one day my homeboy was on SL studio, and I asked him to show me a few things, and next thing you know, I was makin’ beats and I was naturally good at it. Just comin’ from no musical background, to where we are now, is just truly a blessing!
How did y’all link up?
MAV: We actually met at our school; we were going to Florida Atlantic University. We met through a few mutual friends. I heard Reezy music, I liked it, he heard what I was doin’ and what I had goin’ and he liked it, so we started workin’ together, and we started producin’ together under the name The Renegades from there.
What were some of the earliest beats you made together?
MAV: One of the most memorable beats that we made for somebody together that was at the start of our career would have to be that Rich Kid “Watch Me Do My Thing;” that was one of the biggest records we did early on in our career together.
What are your biggest records since then?
REEZY: Hands down, “Welcome to My Hood” – that’s a no brainer! For me, personally, one of the most memorable records just debuted a couple days ago, that Brisco “Welcome to the Club.” That record was made so naturally. It flowed from start to finish and you could tell it’s gonna be a huge record and cause a lotta ruckus in the street for him as an artist.
What do y’all want to be remembered for?
It’s more than music, its more than 2 producers. [The] Renegades is a brand, and our name goes a long way. We take a lot of time to construct our sound to bring something different. We’re versatile, too – we don’t just put out street music. We got all different styles. We do a lot of stuff. We worked with Bobby Valentino, Jeezy, Wayne Birdman… the list is so long, but it’s like, every person we work with, the sound, you can tell it’s The Renegades.
