After she performed, her mother Tina Knowles and nephew Julez presented her with the first ever Billboard Millennium Award. During her acceptance speech, she thanked her mother and father for “teaching me about the music industry [and] about work ethic and drive”.

She also thanked her former group members Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams as well as the original members of Destiny’s Child. “I’d like to thank the original members of Destiny’s Child, LeToya Luckett and LaTavia Roberson”

Her speech ended with a special thanks to her husband Jay-z who was smiling in the audience. “I’d like to thank my best friend. I don’t want to put you on the spot because I know they probably putting the camera in your face right now but I love me some Jay-Z“.
