Uncle Murda is back with a “Warning.” Hit the jump for our exclusive interview.
HHW: Where have you been?
Uncle Murda: I had took a little break…for about a year I wasn’t focused, probably after all that Jay-Z sh– [fell out]. Then probably for six months after that when I asked Def Jam for a release…cause things wasn’t moving right once Jay left. Then my grand moms passed away, then my right hand man got knocked, locked up on some bullshit. So I was kind of turned off to music for a while…. But now I’m back on my sh–, the whole GMG!
What are you working on right now?
We about to put the mixtape out right now called “Warning.” That’s the name of the mixtape as well as the new record I just put out. It’s just a warning, cause I’m back at it. But this time I’m coming for the money, I ain’t playing…ain’t nobody safe, you know what I’m saying?
Who are you working with on the new project?
On the new mixtape, we got [Jada] Kiss on there, we got Swizz on there, we got Waka Flocka, Nicki Minaj, we got some surprises. On the beat side, we got Dangerous LLC, TuneHeadz and Soul Diggas. I feel like my mixtapes be like albums anyway definitely better than the albums that these ni—- be dropping. So its definitely gonna have that album feel to it, but at the end of the day it’s a mixtape. We just turning the streets back up so I can get myself back where I need to be and then shut this sh– down for real, no bull—-.
How did you first get introduced to music?
I been doing music since I was a shorty but when I took it serious I was on the run when they said I had allegedly shot somebody back in the days and I was running from the law at the time. I had heard the LOX on Hot 97 and they was up there popping sh– with Dee and Wah from Ruff Ryders and all them. They was all up there with Flex I think. So I rolled up to the station that night me and my peoples and we laid for them. And when they came out I started chopping it up with Dee, I spit some sh– for them, Styles P and them, you know the Lox and all that. Ever since that Dee kind of embraced me and that’s when I started really taking this sh– serious. I actually signed with Ruff Ryders like in 2000, 2001 or some sh– like that. They was going through they things with trying to get distribution so that didn’t last. But that when I really started taking it serious.
What should fans look out for from you in the future?
They just got to look for some real entertaining music. You gotta look for some more sh– that you probably gonna be like, ‘Damn, I know that ni— ain’t just say that sh–,’ cause you know, I’m that ni— that say what everybody else is scared to say. And I just say I feel like I probably say the realest sh– when it come to this rap sh–, cause these ni—- ain’t like me or none of that sh–, so I just feel I bring that extra real sh– to the game for real and I make you laugh a little bit while I’m doing it too, so I’m real entertaining! So just be ready for an entertaining mixtape. It ain’t like nothing else out there. It’s like watching a movie!
