HHW would like to congratulate our very own Editor-At-Large Cynthia Horner for being tapped to be honored at an event that will take place June 24 during the BET Awards Weekend at the Trina Turk Boutique in Los Angeles.

A long-respected journalist in the world of urban entertainment, Cynthia has been tapped along with former rapper-turned-hip hop personality Monie Love, by TheHipHopDiva.com and it’s CEO/founder Keisha Zachery, to be honored at an event that will take place June 24 during the BET Awards Weekend at the Trina Turk Boutique in Los Angeles. Dubbed “The House That Hip Hop Built: Distinctive Diva Edition,” the event, which will double as a benefit for charitable partner and anti sex trafficking organization; Shoe Revolt, will feature a cocktail reception hosted by model/actress Melyssa Ford.

“The House That Hip Hop Built: Distinctive Diva Edition” is the latest in a series of successful events created by Zackery to recognize the contributions of women in Hip Hop, and this year’s event is on pace to raise the bar. Attendees of the affair will enjoy power networking, socializing, and even shopping in honor of a very worthy cause and two very impactful personalities in the media in Cythia Horner and Monie Love. Horner, a well-known celebrity journalist, and now Editor-At-Large for Hip Hop Weekly, has interviewed the likes of Michael Jackson, Prince, and Queen Latifah during her career, and is also the former Editorial Director at Right On! Magazine.

And millions of rap fans are familiar with the London-born Monie’s success as a Grammy nominated emcee, pioneer in women’s hip hop and more recently from her work in radio in New York, Philly and on XM Satellite where she currently hosts her own “Ladies First Radio with Monie Love” show. “The hip hop community is privileged to have such an accomplished journalist as Cynthia Horner to join its ranks,” said Zachery in a statement. “It only makes sense to honor someone who has spent her career engaging fans with their favorite celebrities. This is our way of saying we appreciate her hard work and talent.”
