HHW: What are you in the lab working on right now?
Young Chill: I’m working on some stuff for JR Rotem. They just signed a new artist at Beluga Heights, named Livi Franc so I’m working on some stuff with them…probably bout to do like a little songwriting deal with them for a couple songs…so you know, just working.

What have you worked on recently that people would be familiar with?
I just did a joint on Pall Wall’s latest album. I wrote it, but I actually featured on it. They kept me on the hook. I usually write hooks for records that are just references for other people to sing, but then a lot of people start liking how my voice sound on it, and started keeping my stuff on there. It’s a record called “Still On.” It was his first single off of his newest album. He shot a video to it so it was a good look and then I got a real good relationship with him. I did a hook on his last album too, a record called “Look At Me Now.” We did some stuff on 2-Pistols first album, a record with T-Pain…called “She Got It.” I produced it and I did the hook on it too. Right now we working on YC new album…Kat Williams working on an album [that’s] crazy…like a comedy rap album. I got a bunch of joints on there…trying to write and produce for everybody and they mama!

You mentioned you produce too?
The majority of the records I’m telling you about, I produced them too. I started off as just a producer and I was kind of trying to do my little artist stuff. But I always had the passion for writing. The majority of the records I sell now, the references are already on there. I usually produce the track and do the hook, or I work with other producers like JR Rotem, Lee Major of the Incredibles or Zaytoven. Me and him just did some joints for Travis Porter. Producing kinda was like my segue way into the writing stuff but I also work with other producers. I ain’t greedy. I ain’t one of those type of people like it ain’t my track, I ain’t writing to it. Just producing and writing however I can make it make sense for the artist.

What should people look out for from you in the future?
Right now I’m working with my artist Ms. Mikey. She got a lot of stuff going on. I’m really focusing hard on her project. We got her new single coming out with Rick Ross called “I’m The Best.” Right now I’m working on projects with YC, Yung Joc, Kat Williams…production and hooks! Working with Jason Durulo, Livvi Franc…I’m doing a lot of work scoring for motion pictures and cartoons. Just working…look out for a lot of stuff!
