The G-Unit signee is making his own lane.

HHW: How long have you been working on your album My Life?
Hot Rod: I have been working on my album for about a year now. The music is legendary…
Where is your favorite place to record and why?
My favorite place is in NY with my engineer/business partner Kal Boogie. He’s a Grammy-winning engineer and great guy. We have a great chemistry when creating legendary music.
What type of vibe do you like or try to create while working in the studio?
I need to have a full bar on deck, candles, incense and very low light. It creates a euphoric feeling when the music is playing. I like to write while I’m closer to a subconscious state because that’s where my most legendary material lies…
When do you prefer to have your recording sessions? Is the time of day relevant to your creativity?
I don’t like morning sessions. I prefer mid-day sessions that last all night. Start at 3pm and leave at 5am…When the sun goes down, that’s when the ladies are allowed to join me during my creative process…
What are a few things that are a must-have at your sessions?
Bottles, at least one other creative mind, more bottles, legendary instrumentals, internet, medical card, weed, beautiful women, a great engineer…
How did you come up with the album title?
This album is a musical personification of my life. It’s about partying, smokin’, drinkin’, goin’ ham and just livin’ your life the way you want without regrets. If I didn’t call my album My Life, I probably would have called it HAM.
How do you know or determine that you have had a successful session?
After we have listened to the song for the 23,866th time and we still enjoy it and are excited about it, that’s when the session was successful.
Who are some of the producers you worked with on the album as well as any features?
I worked with David Guetta, 50 Cent, Dj Chuckie, Out the Box, A.C. Burrell, Fuego to name a few.
If there was one thing you wanted people to know about Hot Rod, what would that be?
That I’m a young legend and when you meet me you will love me. And I go ham every night because every night’s a Friday night in my world.
Let’s talk about your first single “Dance With Me,” how did that come about? 2nd single?
That’s my first single and it was produced by FUEGO. It’s a feel good party joint. My demographic are the people who enjoy the clubs, dancing and just having a good time overall. If you don’t like my music then you are a miserable bad person. My 2nd single is called “Hot Girl,” another feel-good rhythmic record. This joint is self-explanatory and I guarantee it will hit the top of the charts. DONE!
