After a great first season, Stacey Dash, star of VH1′s “Single Ladies,” is leaving the show. More after the jump!

“I have to be back in L.A. with my children right now and the ‘Single Ladies’ shooting location [in Atlanta] makes this impossible,” said Dash in a statement to GlobalGrind. “I wish VH1 the best of luck with the show in maintaining the strong fan base we developed in Season 1.” Really??

VH1 in a statement said, “VH1 respects Stacey’s decision and her commitment to what she feels is best for her family. We thank her for all of her hard work in making ‘Single Ladies’ a success right out of the gate, and we wish her nothing but the best in her future plans.”

Dash is best known for her role Dionne Marie Davenport, the best friend of Cher (Alicia Silverstone) in the film “Clueless.”

Dash played fashion store owner Val, one of three female friends looking for love. The show, which also stars LisaRaye McCoy and Charity Shea, is the first scripted series on VH1, and has been renewed for a second season.

Just before the season kicked off rumors of tension between Lisa Raye and Stacey Dash were surfacing on the web. Reportedly there was a huge scuffle on set that resulted in Stacey shouting, “No, I ain’t coming back unless that b*tch gets her as* kicked!,” before storming off set.

According to media sources, Lisa Raye was getting fed up with shouldering the blame for her cast mates possible firing and decided to address her critics via face book;
“As everyone know I am in Italy vacationing. I was just made aware of the lies that are being spread by Mediatakeout and other blogs that like to create false stories. I was not even aware that Stacy Dash had been fired from Single Ladies. Furthermore if she has been fired that is a network decision. I don’t have the power to get her fired nor do I have any beef with her. Now im going to go continue enjoying my vacation!”
Lisa continued to vent her frustrations through another familiar, celebrity medium…Twitter.
“Regarding the rumors swirling around “Single Ladies” all I know is that we’ll be back with Season 2 and I have no knowledge of anything else.”

There’s speculation on who will replace Stacey Dash as “Val” and the top candidates are Vivica Foxx, Lela Rochon, Robin Givens, Jill Marie Jones and the internet’s favorite Nia Long. If you don’t see any of the above ladies playing a convincing “Val,” which blactress do you envision stepping into the role?

***Keep in mind that “Single Ladies” writer Stacy A. Littlejohn has expressed that she preferred to cast an older actress because she wanted the characters of ”Keisha” and “Val” to come with certain life experiences, who can exemplify that with age comes wisdom, knowledge, and eternal beauty.
