The legendary Paradise Theater in the Bronx N.Y was filled with glam this past weekend. Legends from Angela Davis to Mary J. Blige graced the red carpet. The taping lasted over 3 hours, producers made sure every shot was perfect and every performance was on point. Surely on November 6, 2011 when the show airs at 8PM on BET, more than half of the viewers will shed a tear.

Angela Davis, Tatyana Ali, Taraji P. Henson and more were honored with awards. They all gave tear jerking speeches that will resonate with viewers on November 6. The purpose of the ceremony was to let black girls know that they rock! “Sisterhood is powerful,” stated Taraji P. Henson as she gave her acceptance speech. The audience was taken on a small journey of her career, she admitted to working at low budget theaters before getting her big break, she also stressed the importance of creativity.

Tatyana Ali wrote a letter to her younger self and read it aloud to the crowd. In regards to love she said, ”take your time…true love will find you.”

Newcomer Elle Varner took to the stage to perform, she took a spill in her colorful heels forcing her to perform twice. The crowd cheered her on and was in full support of her second go round. Mary J Blige also performed more than once.
