Heavy D’s “relentless optimism” is touching everyone from here to the white house. Barack Obama honored the rap legend through a letter that was read at the funeral service on Friday by Rev Al Sharpton.
“We extend our heartfelt condolences at this difficult time. He will be remembered for his infectious optimism and many contributions to American music. Please know that you and your family will be in our thoughts and prayers,” according to theĀ Rev. Al Sharpton who quoted the president’s note during the service.

Heavy D’s daughter is now 11. She told the packed church that her father was “still here, not in the flesh, but in the spirit.” A fund has been put in place to help Heavy D’s daughter. Click here to donate.
