Rostrum Records independent artist Mac Miller debut album entitled, Blue Slide Park will premiere at the top of the Billboard charts. According to Hits Daily Double, the album sold an estimated 148, 915 copies in the first week. Mac is the first artist in 16 years to debut independently at number one. Mac’s single “Frick Park Market” debuted at #60 on the Billboard Hot 100, which also have over 10 million views on YouTube. Congrats Mac Miller!
Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa’s fans might want to roll-up this holiday season because the two are set to release the soundtrack to their upcoming film, Mac and Devin Go to High School, on December 13 and hit the road for a brief tour in December. The film is set in a L.A. high school. Wiz will play a character by the name of Devin Overstreet, while Snoop will play the role of a 15-year-old senior and consummate ladies man by the name of Mac Johnson.
If you have been following the New York underground scene then you probably know who A$AP Rocky is. This 23-year-old Harlem native is one of the most talked about new rappers in NYC. His singles “Purple Swag” and “Peso,” which gathered millions of views online is in heavy rotation on New York radio and also helped him secured a $3 million dollar record deal with Pologrounds/RCA. After much criticism Jay Z Rocawear Clothing has removed its “Occupy All Streets” t-shirts from their website. Critics said Jay Z was tryin to profit off the shirts which are a take on the Occupy Wall Street movement. Rocawear had also made a statement that no proceeds would be donated to the cause. (more…)
