Last summer 2011, rapper A$AP Rocky was first introduced to the music industry, with his singles “Peso” and “Purple Swag”. Together, the singles are nearing a combined eight million views. This Harlemite signed a distribution deal with RCA/Pologrounds before he released his debut mixtape, entitled LiveLoveA$AP. One of the biggest topics in the music industry, that people cannot avoid is homophobia in Hip-Hop. In a recent interview with Spinner, A$AP Rocky spoke about homophobia in Hip-Hop. Chris Brown wished Rihanna Happy Birthday on Twitter this morning and the critics went out of control, tweeting photos of Rihanna’s photo from the domestic violence incident. I assume releasing “Birthday Cake” remix was their way of getting revenge.
Tomorrow Tuesday (February 21), YMCMB recording artist Tyga is scheduled to drop his new album Careless World: The Rise Of The Last King. He seems to be having a little trouble at some stores. Best Buy and iTunes are pulling the album because of an unauthorized Martin Luther King speech being used. The MLK speech can be found on the album’s first track “Careless World”. The label is working hard to resolve this issue. The disc has collaborations with Nas, Wale, Chris Richardson, Lil Wayne and Nicki Minaj.
Kanye West and creative director of Givenchy, Riccardo Tisci are featured in the March 2012 issue of Vogue magazine. The duo are photo’d with Florence Welch of Florence + the Machine sitting on West’s lap. Yeezy recently moved to London so that he could focus more on his fashion career. In the article Tisci highlight his relationships with the various people, including Kanye West. He also talked about Jay-Z’s and Kanye West’s platinum-selling album, Watch The Throne. While on the set of his “MMG Untouchable” visual shoot, Miami’s rapper Rick Ross got a co-sign from music producer Timbaland. He has compared Ross to the late Notorious B.I.G. “Let me show ya’ll how to take it to the next level. The best with the best,” said Timbaland. “He’s the newest, reincarnated B.I.G. and that’s coming from the heart, a ni**a who worked with B.I.G. I’m telling you like it is. I know rap stars and he’s one of the biggest rap stars who ever done it. I’m happy to be a part of it.” Watch the video below:
These Harlemites are jacking for beats. A$AP Rocky and his A$AP Mob recently stopped by DJ Cosmic Kev “Come Up” radio show on Power 99 FM in Philly. After their interview, the Mob dropped some bars to a few instrumentals. A$AP Rocky is working on his debut solo album, an A$AP Mob compilation album and a collabo album with Schoolboy Q. Last week, A$AP Rocky kicked off the “Club Paradise” tour with Drake and Kendrick Lamar. Listen to the audio below:
Wale recently released the official video to his latest single “Slight Work” Ft. Big Sean. The track is off Wale’s album Ambition and was produced by Diplo. In the video D-Town meets DMV. The video was directed by Chris Brown with some assistance from Riveting Entertainment (Colin Tilley). Wale’s sophomore album, entitled Ambition debuted at #2 on the Billboard top 200 charts, selling 164,062 copies in the first week. Watch the video below:
