The music industry is talking and it is being reported that some major changes over at Def Jam are about to take place. According to HitDailyDouble, music exec Joie “I.E.” Manda is expected to become president of the prominent Hip-Hop label. The President of Def Jam position is vacant and has not been occupied since Jay-Z left in 2007. In the past it was rumored that music exec Irv Gotti and Ludacris’ manager Chaka Zulu would replace Jay-Z but those rumors were untrue. Keep reading:

According to XXL.Com “Currently, Manda works closely with Todd Moscowitz, the Warner Bros. co-president and a former lieutenant under former Def Jam president Lyor Cohen. Together, the two (with Manda serving as EVP of the label’s urban offerings) have built Warner Bros. Records into a burgeoning powerhouse by inking Common, Curren$y and Rick Ross’ Maybach Music Group signees Wale, Meek Mill and Stalley. Other notable acts on the roster include Gucci Mane, Waka Flocka Flame and upstarts Kirko Bangz, XV and the New Boyz. Prior to his work at Warner Bros., Manda held positions at Asylum Records and worked for Funkmaster Flex.”
Sources at Warner Bros. Records and Def Jam were surprised by the news, with one labeling the possible hiring as “unrealistic,” as told to XXL.Com. As of press time an official announcement hasn’t been made. Stay tuned to HHW for the latest.
