The beautiful songstress is treating fans to all new music tomorrow in Chicago …
Definitely dope to see Chrisette Michele back on the seen. We spoke for an interview with HHW last month, and I could tell she was in a great space and ready to let her fans hear the batch of new music she’s creative. With mixtapes being so popular nowadays, what better way to prepare fans for her 2013 album, Better, than by releasing a free project full of powerful new music.
Earlier this year, Michele opened up about how, sometimes, the business side of the music business can stifle creativity.
Sometimes waiting for the record label to make major decisions is quite draining. You (artist and manager) put in your two cents, and then you wait. You wait for everyone, the product manager, the head of marketing, the a+r, those doing internships, and of course the President/CEO to agree on something. During that time you try very hard to stay focused and inspired as an artist by the project you have given your soul to finish. That’s where I was when I took a trip to Europe..I started out in Amsterdam where Lady Gaga made my feel like I should be on the stage. I ended up in Paris where the Kuduristas made me see that Hip Hop is world wide. After such inspiration its no wonder I began to make a song out of every experience I was having.
The Michele went on to decode the meaning of the project’s Hollywood inspired title:
It started with an infatuation with Audrey Hepburn..I knew there was something behind that elegance and poise. I began visiting where she lived, studied dance and performed. Later finding that she was an enormous humanitarian. I decided to name each song after one of her movies. I ran into some of the best producers in Europe…Producer Wizzy Wow and I created “Charades”…We knew it was a smash before we finished. I will never forget nor be able to repeat that trip..It was a gift to God for me. I did not know I would do this…but I want to share the trip thru my Audio Visual presentation..Maybe the world will see a little bit more of Chrisette Michele. Maybe they will see themselves..What ever it is, I give these songs to you, and remember…
If you’re in Chicago, you definitely won’t want to miss Chrisette’s release party at The Shrine. In addition to offering up live perfomances from the Audrey mixtape, she will be revisiting many of her classic songs, and I hear there will be a few surprise guests on hand.
