Jennifer Lopez has been named chief creative officer of English-language Latino cable channel NuvoTV.
Her new role was announced at NuvoTV’s Upfront in May, during which the network also announced programs including The Jennifer Lopez Biography Special, which will delve into her personal and professional life. She initially invested in the channel in September last year. As COO, Jenny from the block will be involved in programming and on-air decisions, in addition to helping flesh out new programs. NuvoTV was one of four minority-focused US cable channels Comcast Communications helped launch in 2011 as part of its takeover of NBCUniversal. “My partnership with NUVO TV is grounded on my unwavering belief that the time for change is now. Latinos are a force in this country,” Lopez said. “Our mission is to deliver quality content that is culturally relevant to the modern day Latino. This means that the days of inaccurate stereotypes are over. We know we have a long road ahead, but we are off to a great start.”
