In what appears to be a domino effect resulting from his pushed-back Vancouver gig, rapper Kanye West has been forced to postpone his upcoming tour date in Anaheim due to “production logistics.” West had rescheduled his Oct. 20 Vancouver date to Oct. 31 after issues with his elaborate set made it impossible for that show’s stage crew to set up on time. But with the Oct. 31 date now bumping right up against the Anaheim show, originally scheduled for Nov. 1, West’s ambitious stage design appears to have struck again, and the Friday gig has been pushed to Dec. 13.
Foreshadowing the Anaheim cancellation, stagehands working on West’s Seattle show earlier this month told Postmedia that the rapper’s involved set — including its massive mountain — make it unlikely that West will be able to perform any back-to-back shows on his current tour. “They just didn’t have a realistic grasp of the degree of complexity and the time requirements of off-loading and assembling and flying out this whole thing and then deconstructing it packing it and trucking it (to Vancouver),” Maynard Smith, the lead rigger in charge of over 100 Key Arena staff in Seattle, said. ““The time frame to get this done was not realistic.”
