Like rap fans across the country, HHW has been counting down the days til Bronx spitter Remy Mais released. With less than 24 hours til she earns her freedom, we caught up with her husband, rapper Papoose, for an exclusive interview.
Check out a bit of our discussion here, and be sure to grab next week’s issue for the exclusiveRemy Ma homecoming feature you’ll only find in HHW Magazine!!
HHW: What’s the energy right now with you and the family?
Papoose: We’re all excited. We’re ecstatic and the energy is on one million. It’s been a longtime coming and I’m just happy to see her physically walk out of there. I’ve been going up there for so many years to see her, so seeing her walk out is gonna mean a lot to me.
HHW: What’s the first thing she wants to do after walking out?
Papoose: The first thing she wants to do is get reacquainted with her family, the family she’s been separated from. Yes, her career is there, but the first thing is to get close to her family.
HHW: In terms of the music, how will Remy post-prison sound?
Papoose: She’s bringing what she brought to the table before – but now it’s gonna be even worse! I feel sorry for the competition, period. You know I’m a lyricist too, so believe me when I say what she’s bringing is gonna be real catastrophic. She’s writing on another level.
