This season, the producers of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” selected model/radio personality Claudia Jordan to join the cast of Georgia peaches that TV audiences have grown to love. As a newcomer, Claudia is making a name for herself as she settles into life in Atlanta, forging new and treasured friendships. Hip Hop Weekly gives the new Housewife an opportunity to shine in this exclusive interview.
HHW: Congratulations on landing the role on “The Real Housewives of Atlanta,” as well as being a co-host on Rickey Smiley’s radio show. Now you have two gigs, not just one. That’s great!
CLAUDIA JORDAN: Yes, I’m fortunate. I had to move to Atlanta in July. I was behind the 8 Ball. I had to rent a car for a month, didn’t even finish unpacking, and I had to stay in a hotel for the first week.
You hit the ground running and then you wound up getting selected for “Housewives.” How do you work both jobs into your schedule?
I can do it because my radio show is early. I get up at five in the morning and I am finished by 10 a.m.
What inspired you to be on the radio, since you’re mostly known from TV, such as“The Price Is Right?”
I’ve always done radio; I was on Jamie Foxx’s radio show, The Foxx Hole, for four years. You didn’t see me, but you heard me. I’ve always loved radio ever since I was in school. I’ve covered political campaigns, too. I’ve done a lot of things.
Do you want to get more involved in acting?
I’m now being offered movie scripts but I can’t take any of them yet due to my schedule.
Have you had a chance to get to know any of the Housewives?
I actually knew Kenya Moore and we have hung out in the past. We’ve been to places like Las Vegas together; we go way back. I had met Kandi a few times throughout the years. I was cast in Jagged Edge’s first video when Kandi was working with them. I remember seeing her on set and I always respected her, because I knew she was a young woman doing her thing and I ‘ve always been the type to give successful women their props! I think if you blink you will miss me in that video, but I do remember seeing Kandi there. You first saw me on “Housewives” in the episode where Cynthia has a party. Cynthia has the most kind and welcoming energy! I remember she looked me in the eye and said, “I’m really looking forward to getting to know you!” I thought she was very sweet and I was happy and grateful that she was so open to a new woman in the group.
It’s nice to know you already have a friend in Kenya and budding friendships with other castmates.
Yes, I like being involved with a group of women where everybody’s doing their own thing.
BE SURE TO GET THE FULL INTERVIEW + PICS IN THE CURRENT ISSUE OF HHW MAG!!
