Four Turtles, four Slaughterhouse rappers: Guess who’s Michelangelo??
For the next issue of HHW, we spoke with Joell Ortiz about his House Slippers album. In addition to him breaking down the concept and the project’s single, “Music Saved My Life” featuring B.o.B. and Mally Stakz, we thought it’d be fun to get his thoughts on which Ninja Turtle best embodies his fellow group members. Check out his hilarious picks below.
HHW: The Teenage Mutant Turtles movie is coming out this weekend man… four turtle brothers, four Slaughterhouse brothers, who’s who?
JOELL: (laughs) Mann, hmm well … Leonardo is like the leader. If I had to give anybody the leader it would have to Royce. He’s our liaison with the label. He comes up with ideas for songs and all that.
HHW: That’s funny because you guys have a song where it’s stating like, “Yeah Royce is the head” and then naming everybody else down the body.
JOELL: Yeah, yeah yeah! Well he self-proclaimed it at that time! (laughs)
HHW: I feel you man.
JOELL: Well now with Raphael, you know he’s the Crooked I … He’s to himself with his blades, you know. You not going to get too much from Crook until it’s time to rock and that’s with whatever. I feel like I’m Michelangelo; you know the funny guy. I be capping and having everybody in tears on tour, plus pizza bro … I love pizza. Then theres Donatello. Man, I feel that would have to be Budden. He’s just there with that long stick (laughs) ready to tell anybody… pause pause though. Then Em would have to be Master Splinter, you know, right there to tell everybody to chill and stuff.
