Music icon LL Cool J has had an incredible career, beginning as a teen superstar on Def Jam Records. Over the years, the two-time Grammy Award-winning rapper has starred and co-starred in more than 30 movies and has won hearts with roles on series such as “In The House.” These days he is winning once again as a cast member of “NCIS: Los Angeles,” a top ten series that follows the exploits of the Office of Special Projects, an elite division of the Naval Criminal Investigative Service that specializes in undercover assignments.
Hip Hop Weekly caught up with LL to talk music, film and life. Check out a bit of our convo here, and get the rest in next week’s issue of HHW Magazine!!
HHW: Did you ever think that “NCIS Los Angeles” would run as long as it has? You’re in the fourth season.
I had no idea when I got on the series that it would be as successful as it is. I’m grateful. Sometimes the stars just align and I’m just one of those guys who hit the lotto ten times in a row.
HHW: You’re working on G.O.A.T 2. Who do you have making appearances on the project?
I have artists like Murda Mook, Uncle Murda, Lucky Don, Raekwon, Maino – a lot of different people. They really shine and they’re talented. I chose people based on their talent. They were artists who challenged me – I didn’t want any artists on the album who didn’t challenge me. I wanted people that the current generation loves and respects. That’s motivation for me. Wait until the album unfolds.
