So how does it feel to have a radio station at the same time as your sister? That’s exactly what we wanted to know from Mila J. We spoke with Mila during her West Coast tour with Ty Dolla Sign, here’s what she had to say!
HHW: Clear something up for us. Do you or don’t you have a famous family member that’s also doing their thing in the music industry right now?
MILA: I do!
HHW: And who might that be?
MILA: My younger sister! My baby sister, Jhene Aiko.
HHW: What’s it like to be a performer, and to have a sibling that’s also in the business?
MILA: It’s kind of like all we know. Not saying it’s not a big deal to us, but we’ve been doing it since we were younger. I was in a group with my older sister and Jhene was always around. She kind of was like the baby that was at video shoots and studio sessions late night, even though she was like four! She definitely was surrounded by that same musical element we were because our parents were supportive of us being in entertainment.
HHW: You both seem to have a good grasp on how the industry works. Was it a strategic plan between you and Jhene to both have singles on the radio at the same time?
MILA: No, actually things just kind of happened that way. It was necessarily our plan, but maybe it was God’s. We definitely didn’t sit and plan it out, it just seems like everything is flowing now because we’ve both been at it for a minute. It’s our time, I guess! It’s our season!
