What was meant to be a holiday celebration ended in gunplay….
With a packed crowd and meat on the grill, Taylor shared pics of her July 4 cookout, but as the event rolled on into the afternoon, things took a turn for the worst with police being called to the scene and chaos ensued as gunfire erupted. According to reports, a teenager was responsible for the trouble, firing shots in the air. Thankfully, no one was injured.
More than 200 young men & women gathered for the cookout in the park but once the sun set around 9 p.m. last night, things quickly got out of hand. The BBQ slowly turned into a party that expanded through the whole park to the edge of the West Side Highway as more & more people gathered. It was said that some people attempted to climb the fences surrounding the Riverbank State Park just to get inside.
Police were called to the scene, and it turned into a wild chase as the crowd ran in every which direction. A Sergeant injured his shoulder while trying to disperse the crowd. Also amid the chaos, a 14-year-old boy decided to fire random shots into the air. He was later arrested. There are no other reports of injuries or any fatalities.
