Mark your calendars: The Autobots return next summer …
Via USA Today:
Optimus Prime is looking snazzier than ever. Because even transforming alien robots need a makeover once in a while, the Autobots’ earnest leader is getting more than just a tune-up for the new Transformers 4 movie, directed by Michael Bay. The new film, slated to open June 27, 2014, features an upgraded, custom-built Western Star truck as Optimus’ vehicle form. Prime was a Peterbilt Model-379 for the last film, 2011’s Transformers: Dark of the Moon. In addition, two new Autobots will be making their debuts in the fourth installment of the popular franchise.
While the characters are still unnamed, one is a race-inspired green C7 Corvette Stingray that’s based on a 2014 Chevrolet production car, and the other is a 1,200-horsepower, black and blue Bugatti Grand Sport Vitesse. (You can get one of those yourself and slap an Autobot logo on it if you have a spare $2.4 million lying around.) The humans will also look a little different this time around, too: Transformers 4 replaces previous lead Shia LaBeouf with Mark Wahlberg, and he’ll be part of a cast that includes Kelsey Grammer, Nicola Peltz, Stanley Tucci, Jack Reynor, Sophia Myles, TJ Miller and Chinese actress Li Bingbing.
