Grammy Award winner Akon has filed a lawsuit in a New York City court against some former business associates of his who named their latest line of fragrances “Konvict”, which happens to be the name of the record label that he created and heads.

Drake To Headline Kube 93′s Summer Jam 2010

Young Money rapper Drake is set to headline Seattle based radio station Kube 93′s Summer Jam 2010 on June 18. The all-day concert, will take place at the White River Amphitheatre, and will happen three days after Drake’s debut album Thank Me Later is released.

Police Protest Florida Concert Featuring Nas And Damian Marley

Over 50 police officers are in West Palm Beach, Florida and are expected to protest at this year’s SunFest festival which features a variety of top Rock and Hip-Hop acts, which will include Sean Kingston,Nas and Damian Marley. However the police are not protesting against the music and musicians selected to play at this year’s festival, but instead are protesting in regards to West Palm Beach’s decision to eliminate officer’s pay raises and reduce benefits. Parents Outraged Over T.I.’s Middle School Appearance

Some parents have been sending letters expressing their anger to the principal of Woodland Middle School in Henry County,Georgia, Dr. Terry Oates about his allowing rapper Clifford “T.I.” Harris to be a guest speaker at their children’s school. T.I. who was recently released from doing time in prison to serve house arrest after serving a year for attempting to purchase multiple machine guns with silencers, spoke at the school on March 5, as part of his probation. VH1 To Honor The Dirty South At This Year’s Annual VH1 Hip Hop Honors

VH1 has announced this year’s honorees for their seventh annual “VH1 Hip Hop Honors”, which include Luther “Luke” Campbell and his group 2 Live Crew,Master P, Jermaine Dupri, Organized Noize, and J Prince of Rap A Lot Records. This year the network decided to go with a theme of honoring rappers from the south who have made tremendous contributions to hip hop throughout their careers. The show will be called “VH1 Hip Hop Honors: The Dirty South”. (more…)
